Background:
PDSS2, also named as C6orf210, is required for the synthesis of coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10), which is synthesized in the mitochondrial inner membrane and plays a vital role in the mitochondrial respiratory chain, pyrimidine nucleoside biosynthesis, and modulation of apoptosis (PMID:25330808). An increasing body of evidence suggests that PDSS2 is a tumor suppressor gene in certain cancers, such as melanoma, gastric cancer and non-small cell lung cancer. Besides, PDSS2 could be used as a prognostic biomarker for HCC (PMID:25780306). PDSS2 has 2 isoforms with MW of 44 kDa and 27 kDa while 13544-1-AP antibody detects the bands around 27-30 kDa and 44-47 kDa in SDS-PAGE.
