FAQ Documentation—Questions related to Analytical Standards

Q01:What do I need to be aware of when I receive the product?
A01:Before opening the package, please check the label information carefully to make sure the product information matches what you need, if there is any problem, please do not unpack, contact Solarbio customer service (please call 400-968-6088) or distributor at the first time, we will deal with it for you in time.
After opening the package, please consult the product manual to reconfirm the information, physical and chemical properties of the product.
During transportation, some of the product may be attached to the bottle mouth or bottle wall, you can add solvent directly along the bottle wall to dissolve the product directly and calculate the concentration according to the product quality identified on the label. If you have the need for dispensing and weighing, please centrifuge the product before opening the cap so that the product gathers at the bottom of the tube before calibration or use to minimize product loss.

Q02:Why do some products have a size of mg and other units of mass when they are clearly in liquid form?
A02:Liquid products can also be weighed on a balance. Most of the users need to dissolve the drug into mass concentration/molar concentration, so we choose to use mass unit for dosing; in addition, when the viscous liquid product cannot be or is not convenient to measure the volume with a pipette gun, we choose to produce the product in the form of weighing for dispensing.

Q03:Are there certificates for  Solarbio's Analytical Standards?
A03:First of all, please confirm whether you need the product quality report (COA) or the Certificate of Standard Substances issued by the relevant state departments?
1). If you need the COA, you can provide the CAT No., LOT No. and Exp No. of the product to Solapak's customer service or local distributor;
2). If it is a “Standard Material Certificate” issued by the relevant department, you can purchase the national standard material products with the beginning of “GBW” as the item number.

Q04:What is the control herb? What is the purity? What is its use?
A04:Reference Crude Drug (RCD) is a powder prepared from virgin herbs that have not been extracted or purified. The product is a powder/particle of the herb after grinding, which can be used for identification in thin layer chromatography (TLC) experiments, and is used as a control for the herb in drug testing. The product has no information on purity, concentration, etc. and cannot be used for cellular or animal experiments.

Q05:Can control herbs be used in cellular or animal experiments?
A05:Reference Crude Drug (RCD) is used as a control for drug testing, and has no information on purity, concentration, etc. It cannot be used for cell or animal experiments. Please confirm the purpose of use before ordering.

Q06:Can a series of products such as analytical controls and traceable standards be used in cell or pharmacology experiments?
A06:Solarbio analytical controls/traceable standards are mainly used for instrumental analysis such as liquid phase, gas phase, etc., and a few of them can only be used for substance identification. Regarding cellular experiments, no validation has been done, so no specific data can be provided. If you already have mature experimental conditions and programs, you can use this as a higher purity reagent.

Q07:Can Solarbio analytical standards be used for liquid/gas chromatography testing?
A07:You can check the purity information of the standard in the official website, and the corresponding methods can be used for the testing of those labeled with “HPLC ≥xx%” and “GC ≥xx%”. Meanwhile, you can also check the instruction manual, and the corresponding calibration method will be noted in the “purity” column in the product manual.
Some common analytical methods are described in the following table:

Q08:What should be understood about the solubility statement in the product specification?
A08:Example: The specification states “≥10mg/ml in Water”, which means that 10mg of the product can be completely dissolved in 1ml of water, but the saturated solubility has not been tested.
Note: The solvents provided in the leaflet are solvents that we have tested for dissolution, not the only solvents in which the product can be dissolved.

Q09:How do I request a test chart for my product?
A09:Please check the CAT No., LOT No. and EXP No. on the label of the product box and provide the information to Solarbio customer service or send the information to the technical email (service@solarbio.com) to request for the test chart of the batch of the product, and we will send you the test report of the corresponding batch of this product (We will send you the test report (COA) of the corresponding batch of the product. Specific test conditions and graphs can be viewed on the COA.
