FAQ—Solarbio Small Molecule Compounds (1)

FAQ Documentation—Solarbio Small Molecule Compounds frequently Asked Questions (1)

Q01:Is Monensin the same as Monensin?
A01:It cannot be determined. It is recommended to provide an accurate CAS number to accurately correspond to the product. Because CAS is unique, while the name is not unique, there are cases where multiple different substances use the same name.

Q02:Why does L-Ascorbic Acid(CAT: IA0530) need to be placed in a brown bottle?
A02:L-Ascorbic Acid(CAT: IA0530) is highly reducing and very unstable. Under illumination, it is easy to deteriorate and generate dehydroascorbic acid, and further generate oxalic acid and lose physiological activity. Therefore, it should be stored in a brown bottle away from light.

Q03:Can Solarbio small molecule compounds be used in cell experiments?
A03:Solarbio small molecule compound series products strictly control the quality of small molecule compounds through HPLC, NMR and other technical means; It can not only be used in conventional biochemical experiments, but also meet the purity requirements for cell/animal experiments.

Q04:Are there any references for small molecule compound products? How to search?
A04:(1) Log in Solarbio official website and search on the corresponding product page;
(2) Solarbio small molecule compound instructions will provide customers with published literature on the use of this product;
(3) Consult sales or technology, and ask for corresponding literature;

Q05:There are two solution specifications for small molecule compound products, which are soluble in water and soluble in DMSO. How should I choose products of these two specifications?
A05:Soluble in DMSO:
1)?DMSO itself has a strong antibacterial effect, generally the reagent dissolved in DMSO is a sterile solution by default, and it can be operated in accordance with the sterile solution in general, there is no need to carry out additional sterilization process, generally it will not cause pollution, and it can avoid the phenomenon of concentration deviation of storage solution caused by filtration and adsorption.
2)?DMSO itself is toxic, theoretically at low concentrations will not cause significant effects on cells/animals, but in practice, some cells/mice are more responsive to DMSO, need to change to other solvents.
Soluble in in Water:
1)?Suitable for a variety of experimental subjects, but also suitable for a variety of drug delivery methods, without considering the toxic effects of solvents.
2)?Non-sterile specifications. Customers are required to filter with 0.22μm water filter. At the same time, the phenomenon of filtration adsorption cannot be avoided, and the concentration after filtration will be biased.

Q06:If CMC-Na is used for animal gavage, is there a requirement for the viscosity of CMC-Na?
A06:For the moment, no reports on the viscosity index of CMC-Na in the direction of gavage have been found. Generally, it is recommended to select CMC-Na with as small a viscosity as possible on the premise of ensuring solubility. In the literature, it is generally below 1500 mPa.s.

Q07:What is the PEG mentioned in animal administration?
A07:The reference to PEG in animal administration is often an abbreviation for Polyethylene Glycol. You can log in to Solarbio's official website to query IP9000 PEG400 and IP9020 PEG300

Q08:How can I apply for a trial sample of small molecule compounds?
A08:You can directly contact the salesperson/distributor. Or log in to the Solarbio official website to download the application form for trial samples of small molecule compounds. After filling it out, send it to our email address.

Q09:Can I apply for small molecule compounds that are not in the application range?
A09:That's OK. Contact the sales/distributor directly to ask if there is a trial package specification.

Q10:For the Solarbio small molecule compound purchased, what is the recommended usage concentration?
A10:It is recommended to refer to the concentration information of similar experiments in relevant literature first. If no relevant literature is found, it is recommended to conduct a gradient experiment for screening.

Q11:After receiving the product, the tube seems to be empty. Is there no product in the tube?
A11:During product transportation, powder or solution may adhere to the tube wall or tube cap. Therefore, it is recommended to centrifuge at low speed using a centrifuge before opening to reduce product loss. If the amount of the product you purchased is very small, some products may adhere to the tube wall during the freeze-drying process and form a thin layer, and the presence of the product may not be observed. You can add the specified solvent (refer to the instruction manual) and vortex or ultrasonically shake to completely dissolve it. When dissolving, please ensure that the solvent contacts all parts of the bottle.

Q12:What are the storage conditions of the product?
A12:The specific storage conditions and precautions will be clearly marked in the product instructions. Please keep according to the instructions.

Q13:How to choose the experimental dose and treatment time?
A13:It is recommended to refer to relevant literature and conduct pre-experiments according to the scope used in the literature; If no relevant literature can be found, it is recommended to select a wide concentration range for pre-experiment.

Q14:How do you determine if a compound has cellular permeability?
A14:There is currently no easy way to predict whether a product has cellular permeability. It is recommended to check whether there are reports in the literature. In general, charged molecules are not cellular permeable. Phosphorylated compounds, such as monobutyryl and dibutyryl cAMP, are cellular permeable. High molecular weight peptides are usually not cellular permeable under normal conditions. (for reference only)

Q15:Is the information about the biological activity of small molecule compounds on the Solarbio website reliable?
A15:The information on the Solarbio official website is for reference and communication purposes only. Solarbio will try its best to ensure the accurate provision of such information. However, the provided information may not be the latest discovery, and it is only a part of the information. Therefore, we recommend that you independently search scientific literature to understand all the details of the product's biological activity.

Q16:Why does Solarbio sometimes ship compounds labeled "Store at 2-8℃ or -20℃" in bottles at room temperature?
A16:Usually we recommend storing the product at 2-8℃ or -20℃ to ensure the long-term stability of the product. If the product is transported at ambient temperatures, the product is considered stable during transportation and normal handling. At the same time, during the transportation process, we will add ice boxes or dry ice according to the nature of the product and the ambient temperature to ensure the quality of the product. When you receive the product, you should store it in accordance with the conditions indicated on the instruction manual/label. If you have any special shipping requirements, please contact customer service.
