Fixatives inactivate enzymes by changing the internal structure of proteins through coagulation and generation of added compounds. Fixative is divided into aldehyde fixative, mercury fixative, alcohol fixative, oxidant fixative, picrate fixative, etc. The more commonly used ones are formalin in aldehydes and ethanol in alcohols.
Zinc formalin fixative mainly consists of zinc salt, buffered formalin, this fixative is suitable for most of the immunohistochemical staining of tissue fixation.
