Properties: Liquid, hygroscopic. It is stable in soft water, hard water, salt, alkali and acid solutions. May become cloudy in storage, but can be cleared by heating to 40℃. Can be miscible with water, the solution is neutral, soluble in polar organic solvents. It's stimulating. It is a non-ionic surfactant, cleaning agent, wetting agent, emulsifier.

Use/Application：
NP40 is a non-ionic surfactant and is commonly used as a lysate in animal cells. The antibody used in immunoprecipitation is to recognize the epitope of the image when NP40 lysate is used. If the antibody recognizes a linear epitope (such as a synthetic peptide), a strongly denaturating lysate (such as RIPA lysate) can be used.
