Physical properties: white or slightly yellowish crystal or crystalline powder, odorless, sour taste; Soluble in water, soluble in ethanol, insoluble in chloroform, ether and benzene. 1G soluble in about 3ml water, 30ml ethanol, 50ml anhydrous ethanol. Stable in dry air, imppure and many natural products, can be oxidized by air and light, and its aqueous solution is quickly oxidized to dehydroascorbic acid. Alkali, iron and copper speed up the reaction. It can form a stable metal salt, which is a relatively strong reducing agent, and the color becomes darker and becomes light yellow in different degrees after storage.

Uses: biochemical research. Standard reagent for the determination of arsenic, iron, phosphorus and iodine. Reagent for chromatographic analysis. Food antioxidant. Masking agent. A reducing agent. Determination of bismuth, calcium, magnesium, titanium, molybdenum, tungsten and antimony. Adrenalin assay.
