Product Introduction:
Doxycycline hyclate is a semi-synthetic tetracycline antibiotic that penetrates cell membranes and binds to the 30S ribosome subunit, interfering with tRNA/mRNA interactions and ultimately inhibiting protein synthesis. As a broad spectrum antibiotic and antibacterial agent, the antibiotic mainly has very strong resistance to bacteria that cause respiratory infections, including mycoplasma pneumoniae and Haemophilus influenzae. In addition, it can treat infections caused by chlamydia, Rickettsia and some spirochetes, and has antiseptic and repellant functions.
Doxycycline hydrochloride is also an inhibitor of several matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs), including MMP-8 (neutrophil collagenase; IC50 =30 μM) and MMP-1 (interstitial collagenase; IC50 = 300 μM). It has been reported that it can significantly reduce the expression level and activity of MMP-9 in recurrent corneal erosion studies. In smooth muscle research, it can enhance and promote smooth muscle cell adhesion, change fibrous collagen matrix recombination and cell migration. It also inhibits the inflammatory response caused by Lyme Disease and interferes with the plasminogen system to protect microvessels.
Use and synthesis method:
Doxycycline hydrochloride is also commonly used in Tet-on (rtTA dependent) and Tet-off (tTA dependent) systems to regulate gene expression, both in vivo and in vitro cell cultures.
Solubility:
This product is a USP grade reagent with a solubility of approximately 50mg/ml in water, which is moderately heated to promote complete dissolution. It has been reported that it is also soluble in DMSO (~1 mg/mL) and methanol, and insoluble in chloroform and ether.
Note :
(1) For cell experiments, after dissolution, must be filtered with disposable needle filterto remove bacteria.
(2) For your safety and health, please wear a lab coat and wear disposable gloves.
