8-Hydroxyquinoline Description: Widely used in the determination and separation of metals.
8-Hydroxyquinoline properties: is a white or light yellow crystalline or crystalline powder. It is insoluble in water and ether, soluble in ethanol, acetone, chloroform, benzene, or dilute acids. Biological applications of 8-hydroxyquinoline: (1) It is a partial inhibitor of ribonuclease that is added to organic extraction buffer containing phenol to prevent oxidation of phenol to benzoquinone, usually at a concentration of 0.1%(1g/L). The addition of 8-hydroxyquinoline gives a bright yellow color to phenol: chloroform, which helps to distinguish the organic phase from the aqueous phase during the isolation and purification of nucleic acids. After binding to VDR, 8-hydroxyquinoline changed from bright yellow to dark green. If the extracted organic phenol is yellow, all VDR has been removed. (2) It is widely used in the determination and separation of metals. It can complexate with Cu+2, Mg+2, Ca+2, Sr+2, Ba+2, Zn+2, Cd+2, Al+3, Ga+3, In+3, Yt+3, La +3, Pb+2, Cr+3, Mn+2, Fe+3, Co+2, Ni+2, Pd+2 and other metal ions. Storage conditions: sealed, cool and dry; Acute toxicity: toxic, mouse intraperitoneal median lethal dose 48mg/kg. Precautions: 8-hydroxyquinoline is toxic, use careful personal protection.
