Limonin is a triterpenoid aglycone derived from citrus fruits. Limonin has anti-proliferative and anti-apoptotic activities on several tumor cell lines and inhibits azoxymethane-induced colon cancer in rats. It inhibits the replication of HIV-1 virus in macrophages and monocytes by inhibiting HIV-1 protease activity.
