Hemosiderin is a kind of hemoglobin derived pigment, which is golden yellow or brown yellow particles. Because it contains iron and is golden yellow, it is called hemosiderin. It is an unstable ferritin polymer, which is an iron containing brown pigment. When the presence of hemosiderin in the urine, under acidic conditions, potassium ferrocyanide solution to make ferric ion from the protein is dilute hydrochloric acid separation, ferric iron and potassium ferrocyanide reaction, the formation of an insoluble blue compound that ferric ferrocyanide called Prussian blue reaction.
