Carbon monoxide poisoning is caused by inhalation of the product of incomplete combustion of carbon-containing substances through the respiratory system. The mechanism of poisoning is that the affinity between carbon monoxide and hemoglobin is hundreds of times higher than that between oxygen and hemoglobin. It has toxic effects on tissues and cells of the whole body, especially on the cerebral cortex.
The detection principle of this kit is that carbon monoxide combines with hemoglobin to form cherry red carboxyhemoglobin, which is more resistant to alkaline substances than normal hemoglobin. By comparing the color with normal hemoglobin, the cherry red color is positive, and it can be used for qualitative detection of carbon monoxide content in human and animal blood, and can be detected for 100-150 times.
