Azadibenzocyclocyanine dye derivatives are a common labeling reagent used to detect molecules or compounds containing azides. Cycloctene compounds can be used to promote the cycloaddition reaction without copper azide. This dibenzocyclooctene will react with compounds or biomolecules containing azide functional groups to produce stable triazole bonds without the need for a Cu2+ catalyst.
