Artificial Cerebrospinal Fluid, also known as Artificial Cerebrospinal Fluid (ACSF) in English, is a colorless and transparent fluid that can simulate the human cerebrospinal fluid environment, also known as cerebrospinal fluid simulation fluid. Artificial cerebrospinal fluid is sterile solution, which is treated aseptically with 0.22 μm sterile filter membrane and can be used directly. The ion concentration, pH, and crystalloid osmolality of artificial cerebrospinal fluid are similar to those of human cerebrospinal fluid, avoiding many of the side effects of saline infusion or its use as a replacement fluid when cerebrospinal fluid is lost. Artificial cerebrospinal fluid is commonly used as a surrogate for CSF to protect interneurons during perfusion of brain slices. Artificial cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) is commonly used in scientific research to maintain pH balance and tissue oxygen delivery, rat brain microdialysis experiments, and culture hippocampal tissue sections.
