Cy5.5ns dyes have the same spectral properties as Cy5.5, but do not have the four sulfonate groups of Cy5.5. Cy5.5ns dyes are insoluble in water, while Cy5.5 dyes are highly water-soluble. This non-sulfonated cyanine is insoluble in water and is primarily used to label oligonucleotides, peptides and other small molecules. Cy5.5NS succinimide selectively reacts with aliphatic amines.
