DAF-2 DA is the cellular permeable version of DAF-2, a sensitive fluorescent indicator for nitric oxide (NO) detection and bioimaging. Upon entering the cell, DAF-2 DA is hydrolyzed by cellular esterase to DAF-2 with lower cellular permeability, thus preventing signal loss caused by DAF-2 DA leaking from the cell. In the presence of oxygen, DAF-2 reacts with NO to produce highly fluorescent triazole fluorescein. Intracellular fluorescence can be easily detected using a standard FITC filter set.
