| Background | DMMB is a cationic dye that specifically binds to sulfated glycosaminoglycans (sGAGs) with an absorbance of approximately 525 nm. It has been used to quantify glucosamine in proteoglycans such as chondroitin sulfate, keratin sulfate, heparan sulfate, and sGAG chains. One limitation of this method is that the sGAG-DMMB complex is unstable in solution and may precipitate. The precipitation of the complex shows improved stability. |
