Lipopolysaccharide (LPS) is a characteristic component of the cell wall of Gram-negative bacteria. LPS and its lipid A component stimulate cells of the innate immune system through Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4), a member of the Toll-like receptor protein family that recognizes common pathogen-associated molecular patterns (PAMP). Lipopolysaccharide (LPS) is a characteristic component of the cell wall of Gram-negative bacteria. They are composed of A lipid A component attached to the antigen O-polysaccharide. Proteus is a rod-shaped gram-negative facultative anaerobic bacterium. It inhabits the intestines of humans and animals and can be found in soil, water and feces.
