Wisteria Floribunda Lectin (WFA, WFL), Fluorescein

The binding specificity of Wisteria floribunda lectin (WFL) is not fully understood, but the lectin appears to preferentially bind alpha or beta linked with n-acetylgalactosamine to the carbohydrate structure of position 3 or 6 of galactose. This lectin has been used to separate lymphocyte populations and, while not mitotic, can induce lymphokine production in mouse spleen cells. Fluorescein-labeled WFL has the appropriate amount of fluorescent dye binding to provide the best staining properties for this lectin. This conjugated substance basically does not contain unconjugated fluorescent dyes.
