Tyrosine decarboxylase catalyzes the removal of carboxyl groups from tyrosine to produce tyramine and carbon dioxide. Pyridoxal 5 '-phosphate is an essential cofactor. Pyridoxal phosphate can be determined by using deenzymes prepared from cells grown on a medium deficient in vitamin B6.
Application
For the determination of tyrosine, phenylalanine and dihydroxyphenylalanine
International System Classification Number: EC: 4.1.1.25
Optimal pH: 5.5
Inhibitors: Heavy metals (Ag+, Cu2+, Fe2+, Fe3+, Pb2+) KCN, NHOH, N2H4, and SO4=.
