The insulin-transferrin selenium additive can reduce the concentration of fetal bovine serum required for routine maintenance of a variety of cells and low density adherent culture. ITS is formulated from Earle Balanced Salt Solution (EBSS). Beijing Solebao Technology Co., LTD offers three different ITS, namely: ITS-G(I3502) for general purpose, ITS-A(I3501) for adherent cell culture, and ITS-X(I3500) for composite media containing sodium pyruvate, such as F-12 medium or DMEM/F-12 medium. At the initial stage of culture, 2%-4% fetal bovine serum should be added to the medium, and the concentration of fetal bovine serum could be further reduced after the cells were adapted. The three ITS provided by Solarbio do not contain animal-derived components.
