Description:
Biochemical studies, tools for studying glycoproteins, can inhibit the formation of glycoproteins by inhibiting the transfer of n-acetylglucosamine 1-phosphate to monophosphate.
Itamycin is A mixture of four isomers A, B, C, and D, the details are as follows:
Isomer A, n=8, C37H60N4O16, 816.90g/mol
Isomer B, n=9, C38H62N4O16, 830.93g/mol
Isomer C, n=10, C39H64N4O16, 844.95g/mol
Isomer D, n=11, C40H66N4O16, 858.99g/mol
Use and synthesis method:
Biochemical research. Tools for studying glycoproteins. Itamycin is A nucleotide antibiotic produced by Streptomyces sp. it is a mixture of the homologues itamycin A, B, C, and D. Can inhibit the reproduction of viruses with a coating (glycoprotein containing). Inhibit the formation of lipid-like (polyterpene alcohol) intermediates necessary for the synthesis of glycoprotein sugar chains. For example, in the biosynthesis of the glycoprotein sugar chain of asparagine, the transfer of n-acetylglucosamine 1-phosphate to the lipid carrier is inhibited. In addition, because it can inhibit the formation of lipoid (bacterial terpenol, polyterpenol) intermediates necessary in the synthesis of peptidoglycan or cell wall acid of bacterial cell wall, it shows antibacterial activity against Gram-positive bacteria. This inhibitory effect on the formation of lipid-like intermediates was used to explore the synthesis and function of carbohydrate complexes in vivo.
Feature:
Source: Streptomyces sp.
Physical shape:
White or yellowish-brown powder or solid. Sensitive to humidity and light. Toxic.
Solubility:
Soluble in methanol, reference concentration 5mg/ml, soluble in DMSO (reference 40mg/ml), almost insoluble in acetone, ethyl acetate, chloroform, benzene, acidic solution. After being dissolved in water, it is maintained at 100℃ for 30 minutes, stable in neutral and alkaline, and unstable in acid. Specific rotation +52°(c=0.5, in pyridine). The maximum absorption wavelength is 205, 260nm(E1%1cm230, 110).
