LAP is a water-soluble, cell-compatible type I photoinitiator for the polymerisation of hydrogels or other polymeric materials. It is superior to Irgacure 2959 because of its higher water solubility, faster polymerisation rate at 365 nm light and absorbance at 400 nm for visible light polymerisation, which makes it more suitable for biological applications.
