Streptavidin (SA) is a protein with similar biological characteristics to avidin, in the physiological state of tetrameric form, one molecule of streptavidin can bind to tetramolecular biotin, but streptavidin does not contain glycans, non-specific binding is much lower than avidin. Based on the high affinity between streptavidin and biotin and the multi-stage amplification effect, the streptavidin-biotin system is widely used in the field of bioreaction detection.
