FITC is a fluorescently labeled dye used in the preparation of green fluorescent bioconjugates, and FITC has certain limitations, such as severe photobleaching and pH-sensitive fluorescence for microscopic imaging. Compared to the corresponding FITC conjugates, the FITC-xtra conjugates are significantly brighter and more photostable than the FITC conjugates. In addition, the fluorescence of FITC-xtra is not affected by pH (4-10). This pH insensitivity is a significant improvement over FITC, which only emits its large fluorescence at pH greater than 9, and FITC-xtra has almost identical spectral properties to FITC. In addition, the binding rate of FITC-xtra is much higher than that of FITC under mild conditions. The FITC-xtra antibody conjugate is suitable for excitation of the 488 nm laser line, making it an alternative to the corresponding FITC-labeled antibody conjugate. The signal/background ratio of the FITC-xtra antibody conjugate was much higher than that of the corresponding FITC-labeled conjugate under the same detection conditions.
