Reactive oxygen species (ROS) include hydrogen peroxide (H2O2),Hydroxyl radicals (•OH),Singlet oxygen (1O2),nitric oxide (NO),superoxide anion (•O2-),Peroxyl radicals (ROO•),hydroperoxyl(HOO•) and their downstream products, peroxides, peroxynitrite anions (ONOO-),ClO- and hydroxylates, participate in cell growth, proliferation, developmental differentiation, aging, apoptosis, and many physiological and pathological processes.
DHE is a fluorescent probe with cell membrane permeability, which can be specifically oxidized by ROS to produce red fluorescent substances. The intensity of red fluorescence is proportional to the level of ROS. ROS negative cells have only low fluorescence intensity, while ROS positive cells have strong red fluorescence. By observing the intensity of red fluorescence, the level of ROS in tissue slices can be reflected.
This kit is suitable for ROS staining of vibration slices or fresh frozen slices samples. The ROS of paraffin slice samples will be lost during the slicing process,so it is generally not suitable for ROS detection of paraffin slice samples.
