Compared with 5-DTAF，the 6-isomer can be better used for the labeling of oligonucleotides and nucleic acids. Like 5-DTAF，6-DTAF can react not only with amino groups，but also with sulfhydryl groups and even with hydroxyl groups，such as polysaccharides and other alcohols with pH greater than 9 in aqueous solutions. Due to its high activity，6-DTAF can also be used to label carbohydrates.
