6-CR6G is another purified monomer of the 5(6)-CR6G isomer. Because the subtle differences between 5-CR6G and 6-CR6G can significantly affect the biological properties of the underlying binder，it is preferred in complex biological applications where repeatability is more important than material cost. In contrast to 5-CR6G，6-CR6G is mainly used to label nucleotides and nucleic acids.
