5-Carboxyrhodamine 6G cadaverine is a bioconjugate of romidan formation and a fluorescent substrate for transglutaminase, which labels proteins by transamide action. In general, the 6G conjugate is more phototolerant and emits more fluorescence intensity than the tetramethylromidan conjugate. The wavelengths of the excitation and emission of Romindan 6G are between those of fluorescein and tetramethyl Romindane derivatives, allowing 5(6)-CR6G to provide alternative color options for multicolor fluorescence imaging analysis. 5(6)-CR6G is a mixture formed from two different carboxyl groups of romindan 6G monomers.
