ROX dyes are highly fluorescent,but they are extremely unstable,and some commercially available reagents only have a few months of shelf life. Sunnyvale Red SE is significantly more stable than 6-ROX-labeled compounds,and when conjugated to biological substrates such as oligonucleotides,it has the same spectral characteristics as 6-ROX dye. Sunnyvale Red-labeled oligonucleotides are easier to purify than 6-ROX-labeled oligonucleotides.
