ROX dyes are highly fluorescent，but they are extremely unstable，and some commercially available reagents only have a few months of shelf life. Sunnyvale Red SE is significantly more stable than 6-ROX-labeled compounds，and when conjugated to biological substrates such as oligonucleotides，it has the same spectral characteristics as 6-ROX dye. Sunnyvale Red-labeled oligonucleotides are easier to purify than 6-ROX-labeled oligonucleotides.
