ROX dyes are highly fluorescent，but they are extremely unstable，with some commercially available reagents having a shelf life of only a few months. Our 6-ROXtra dye has higher stability and the same spectral properties than 6-ROX-labeled compounds. In addition，our 6-ROXtra dye is more water-soluble than 6-ROX dye. In most cases，6-ROXtra-derived oligonucleotides are easier to purify than their corresponding 6-ROX oligonucleotides. When conjugated to proteins，the fluorescence of 6-ROX is severely quenched，while 6-ROXtra still exhibits strong fluorescence.
