Although Lissamine Rhodamine B chloride is one of the commonly used sulfonyl chloride labeling reagents，it is very unstable in water. Even in anhydrous DMF，Lissamine rhodamine B chloride produces a very complex reaction mixture. It reacts indiscriminately with mercaptans，alcohols，phenols，aliphatic amines and aromatic amines. LRB Red is a succinimidyl ester with the same spectral properties as Lissamine rhodamine B chloride. LRB Red is a premium alternative to lissamine rhodamine B chloride. LRB Red reacts only with fatty amines such as amino acids，peptides and proteins to produce extremely stable bright red fluorescent conjugates. Compared to Lissamine rhodamine B chloride，LRB Red has a higher labeling efficiency and，more importantly，the resulting conjugate is easier to purify.
