California Red is a succinimidyl ester with the same spectral properties as TexasRed，which is a premium alternative to TexasRed. California Red reacts only with fatty amines such as amino acids，peptides，and proteins to produce extremely stable bright red fluorescent conjugates. Compared to TexasRed，California Red has a higher labeling efficiency and the resulting conjugates are easier to purify.
