7-Methoxycoumarin-4-acetic acid (MCA) is widely used in the development of FRET peptide substrates for the analysis of protease activity. It is usually paired with a dinitrobenzene (DNP) group. It is also used for HPLC derivatization by fluorescence detection. MCA succinimidyl ester selectively reacts with aliphatic amines.
