Green fluorescent nucleic acid dye is a novel DNA dye that can replace Ethidium bromide (EB) with a sensitivity comparable to EB and is used in exactly the same way. Double-stranded DNA fluoresces green under UV light, while single-stranded DNA fluoresces red.
How to use:
Melt 100ml agarose gel solution (the concentration is generally 0.8-2%) in the microwave oven, cool to about 60℃ (when not hot), add 10μL green fluorescent nucleic acid dye nucleic acid dye, shake gently and pour glue (to avoid bubbles), after the glue is completely solidified, sample electrophoresis, observation under the purple lamp after electrophoresis.
Note:
Green fluorescent nucleic acid dye is particularly suitable for the detection of large fragments of DNA (fragments larger than 1kb, the detection sensitivity is comparable to EB). When the DNA fragment is less than 1kb, the detection sensitivity is lower than EB, especially the fragment less than 500bp, and the green fluorescent nucleic acid dye may be very weak or undetectable. If detecting small fragments of DNA, use G8142, which is suitable for detecting DNA fragments of all fragment sizes.
Gels containing green fluorescent nucleic acid dyes are not suitable for gel recovery experiments. To perform a recycling experiment, use G8142.
