Properties: Red or reddish brown fine powder. Sensitive to light. It absorbs oxygen from the air and becomes a colorless oxide that is inactivated.
Soluble in acetone, chloroform, petroleum ether, benzene and vegetable oil, insoluble in water, propylene glycol and glycerol, insoluble in methanol and ethanol.
Uses: biochemical research. Feed and food additives. Colorant. Beta-carotene is used in reagent products for scientific research experiments, and is used as a vitamin in related experimental studies.
