Xylose is a white crystal or crystalline powder with a sweet taste and a sweetness equivalent to 0.7 of sucrose. With optical rotation; It is easily soluble in water, with a solubility of 117g at 20℃. Under the same temperature conditions, the viscosity of its saturated solution is smaller than that of xylitol and glucose, and it can reduce the warm Fering solution. It is soluble in water, pyridine and hot ethanol, slightly soluble in cold ethanol. xylose is a five-carbon sugar that widely exists in the hemicellulose of plants in nature in the form of macromolecule xylan.
