Polybrene (hexadimethrinebromide) is a polycationic polymer, which is often used in DNA transfection experiments in mammalian cells to enhance the transfection efficiency of liposomes. At present, Polybrene is widely used in retrovirus-mediated gene transfection and lentivirus-mediated gene transfection. The mechanism may be to neutralize the electrostatic exclusion between sialic acid and virus particles on the cell surface to promote adsorption. Polybrene is also a well-known antiheparin (heparin antagonist), which is often used to produce nonspecific agglutinated erythrocytes. In addition, polybrene is also used for protein sequencing, because small doses of Polybrene in automatic sequencing analysis can significantly improve the degradation of peptides. The addition of polybrene to PVDF membrane can also improve the affinity of the membrane.

This product is a ready-to-use solution, the powder is prepared into 10 mg/mL solution with 0.9% NaCl, and the bacteria are removed by 0.22 μm filter membrane. When in use, it is generally diluted according to 1:1000-1:2000, and the dilution ratio is different according to different types of cells.

Note: Polybrene is highly toxic to some cells (such as terminal differentiated neurons, DC cells). It is recommended to do toxicity test for the first time.
