It is a polycyclic compound containing cobalt trivalent, 4 reduced pyrrole rings are linked together into a gollinoid ring (similar to porphyrin), which is the core of vitamin B12 molecules, so compounds containing this ring are called gollinoid, is the only vitamin containing metal elements. Vitamin B12 is the only vitamin that requires the help of a gut secretion (endogenous factor) to be absorbed.
