PMA (synonymous name: TPA) is a phorbol ester PKC activator widely used in vitro and in vivo. PMA binds PKC(Ki =2.6 nM) and activates its function, showing an extremely broad inhibition spectrum in both cells and tissues. PMA could inhibit Fas-induced apoptosis, but could also induce apoptosis in HL-60 cells. PMA is a highly effective tumor promoter and can promote skin tumor formation in mice. Although PMA is highly toxic, it still shows anti-leukemia and anti-neutropenia activities in humans.
Use concentration:
The specific concentration of PMA should be referred to the relevant literature, and explored and optimized according to the experimental conditions (such as experimental purpose, cell type, culture characteristics, etc.).
Preparation and storage:
Soluble in organic solvents such as ethanol and DMSO. DMSO up to 100mM.
This product may not be suitable for inducing the differentiation of THP-1 cells into macrophages.
Note: PMA can be dissolved in DMSO, and the solution dissolved in DMSO is used as storage solution. The solution diluted with water reagent can not be stored at -20 degrees and is protected from light. It is recommended to use current dilution.
