melibiose, a disaccharide composed of D-galactose and D-glucose 1,6 -. The chemical system name is O-α-galactopyranosyl - (1→6) -D-grape pyranose. When fructose is added to the reducing group side, it becomes a raffinose trisugar, namely raffinose. Melibiose is widely found in the plant kingdom, such as the extract of Malva sylvestris var. mauritiana.
