Hemin chloride is the in vitro purified form of natural heme, which is generally isolated from animal blood and purified. It is mainly used in biochemical research, stain for blood test, organic synthesis, and preparation of hematoporphyrin hydrochloride.
Hemin chloride is generally extracted from pig blood as an iron fortifier. It has the advantages of high bioavailability, no toxicity of iron accumulation in the body, and no adverse reactions such as gastrointestinal irritation. This is because hemin chloride is absorbed in molecular form and can be taken up directly by the intestinal mucosa.
Solubility: almost insoluble in water, insoluble in dilute acid solution, soluble in dilute alkali solution and dilute ammonia solution.
