Product Introduction:
Acid-fast staining is used to stain smears of bacterial specimens or colony smears and is often used for the initial identification of Mycobacteria. While common bacterial stains are relatively easy to stain, mycobacterial cell walls contain more lipids, which are more difficult to stain and must be heated to be stained by carbolic fuchsine. After coloring, mycobacteria can resist decolorization by acid decolorization agents such as hydrochloric alcohol, while other bacteria and cells are decolorized. After re-staining with basic methylene blue, the mycobacteria are still red, and the other bacteria and background are blue.
This product is differentiated by acid-fast bacteria using the classic thermal staining method.
