Product introduction
Glycolic acid is a commonly used analytical reagent.
Main biochemical application:
(1) Because the molecule has both hydroxyl and carboxyl groups, and has the dual nature of alcohol and acid, it is used in organic synthesis, etc.
(2) For pH control.
Physical properties
Colorless crystals. Slightly hygroscopic. It is soluble in water, methanol, ethanol, acetone, acetic acid and ether. Slightly soluble in diethyl ether, insoluble in hydrocarbons. The pH of aqueous solution was 2.5 (0.5%), 2.33 (1.0%), 2.16 (2.0%), 1.91 (5%), 1.73 (10%). The melting point is 80°C. The relative density (water =1) was 1.49. No boiling point, heating to 100℃ heat decomposition into formaldehyde, carbon monoxide and water, formaldehyde will further form paraformaldehyde or formic acid.
