It can provide phosphate ions for osteoblasts and promote the deposition and calcification of physiological calcium salts, which is a necessary condition for bone marrow stromal stem cells to produce mineralized nodules. It can promote the induced differentiation of stem cells by dexamethasone.

Cell(Osteogenic;10 mM β-glycerophosphate):
Osteogenic induced medium contained complete culture medium supplemented with 100 nM dexamethasone (Solarbio, Beijing, China), 10 mM β-glycerophosphate (Solarbio) and 50 mg/l ascorbic acid (Solarbio). The medium was replaced every other day. Alizarin Red–positive mineralized matrix was used to evaluate osteogenic capacity by Alizarin red (AR) staining.
