Background | Substance P (SP) is an important neuropeptide that has been implicated in several physiological processes. This SP fragment 8 to 11 amino acids was used in the healing of corneal epithelial wounds study. The combination of FGLM-NH2 and IGF-1 promotes corneal epithelial wound healing in diabetic rats, suggesting that this kind of treatment might prove effective in humans with diabetic keratopathy. Administration of eyedrops containing both FGLM-NH2 and SSSR is effective for the treatment of persistent epithelial defects in individuals with neurotrophic keratopathy. |
