Product Introduction:
Glycogen staining is one of the conventional staining methods in pathology. McManus first used the periodate Schiff technique in 1946 to display mucin, which is commonly used to display glycogen and other polysaccharides, as well as neutral mucinous substances and certain acidic substances, as well as cartilage, pituitary gland, fungi, pigments, amyloid substances, basement membrane, etc.
In histology, Periodic Acid Schiff(PAS) Stain Kit is mainly used to detect glycogen or other polysaccharides in tissues. The oxidant is periodic acid, which can oxidize the adjacent diol group of polysaccharide into dialdehyde group. The aldehyde group can react with Schiff Reagent to form red insoluble complex.
