The fluorescent probe WSP-1 is a selective, fast reacting H2S-specific fluorescent dye (Ex/Em=465/515 nm). Hydrogen sulfide (H2S) is an important gaseous medium, such as nitric oxide, that has significant effects on the immune, neurological, cardiovascular, and pulmonary systems of mammals. WSP-1 is a fluorescent probe containing active disulfide for the detection of H2S in biological samples and cells. WSP-1 selectively and rapidly reacts with H2S to produce benzo dimercaptan and fluorophore with maximum excitation and emission spectra of 465 and 515nm, respectively.
