Product Introduction:
Myelin Sheath is a membrane wrapped around the outside of the axon of nerve cells. Myelin sheath is composed of myelin cells and cell membrane. It is a multi-layered lipid bilayer structure formed by the plasma membrane of nerve membrane cells winding along the axis of the axon. Myelin staining has some significance in pathological diagnosis. The pathological changes of myelin sheath are divided into early, middle and late stages. The color is darker in the early stage. In the middle stage of the lesion, the myelin degenerated into lipid droplets, which could be visualized by lipid staining. In the later stage, the myelin degenerated completely and is removed by phagocytic cells, so there is no longer positive results of myelin.
Many diseases can cause changes in myelin sheath. The myelin staining solution (chromogenic acid 2R method) is mainly composed of chromogenic acid 2R staining solution and bright green staining solution. On staining, the myelin sheath is dark red, the demyelinated fibers are not stained, and the interstitium is green.
